Attorney Brenda Rothman is a double GSU Panther, having graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. in English and a J.D. from Georgia State University of Law. While at law school, Brenda perfected her craft as a litigator and public speaker in Moot Court.
John F. Gilkey is our Paralegal and is the first point of contact for our clients as they enter the office. John has earned Associate degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Services from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from Herzing University. He is a 20-year military veteran and a key part of Jim’s success.
Leigh Reid joined the firm after working as a Fulton County DUI, traffic, and drug prosecutor for the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office. At the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office, she prosecuted thousands of cases including DUI, battery, domestic violence, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, and other criminal offenses. In her role as a state prosecutor, Leigh regularly prepared and argued motions, was lead prosecutor in jury trials, prosecuted probation violations, argued bond hearings, oversaw arraignments, and conducted plea hearings all while managing a heavy caseload.
Before joining the Fulton County Solicitor’s Office, Leigh spent 2 years working as a litigation manager for a Fulton County State Court judge. In this position, she learned the inner workings and administrative side of the criminal justice system as developed and monitored case progression through the life cycle of each case. Leigh also provided in court support for the judge by drafting orders, recording dispositions, and providing technical guidance and information to attorneys. Leigh also managed all aspects of the judge’s criminal docket.
Before Leigh took this position, she spent 2 and a half years as a judicial assistant for a Fulton County Superior Court judge. In this position, Leigh acted as a liaison between the judge and attorneys, other agencies, and the public. She also published court calendars, completed dispositions, and provided in court support for the judge.
Leigh also spent 15 years working as a case manager for a criminal defense law firm. Leigh’s experience as a prosecutor, judges’ clerk, case manager, and defense attorney is invaluable. Leigh is one of only a handful of attorneys in the entire State of Georgia to hold all 4 of these positions, thus giving her unique insight into the inner workings of criminal cases and the criminal justice system.
